Hillwood MS Orchestras

  • Hillwood Intermezzo Ensemble

    The Hillwood Intermezzo Ensemble is a competitive ensemble at the Sub-Non-Varsity level. Students must have at least one year of orchestra before being placed in the Intermezzo Ensemble and required to audition for chair placement.

    Students also take private lessons as added supplemental support fine tune concert repertoire and prepare for All-Region auditions, Pre-UIL and UIL contests during before & after school sectionals.

    The Intermezzo Ensemble learn more advanced technique and complex pieces that prepare them fort U.I.L. concert & sight-reading competition. Students are highly encouraged to participate in All-Region auditions and Solo and Ensemble contests. Students also participate in local adjudicated music festivals in the Winter and Spring months and our end-of-year Orchestra Banquet celebrating our seniors and the achievement of students in the Hillwood Middle School and Central High School orchestra programs.

  • Hillwood Sinfonia Ensemble (Varsity)

    The Hillwood Sinfonia Ensemble is a competitive orchestra at the varsity level. Students have at least two years of orchestra and audition to advance and be placed in the Sinfonia Ensemble.

    Sinfonia Ensemble Varsity students continue to learn complex pieces and advanced techniques that prepare them for UIL concert and sight-reading competition.

    Varsity Students are required to take private lessons as added support to classroom instruction, before/after-school sectionals which provide students with an opportunity to fine tune concert repertoire, practice and prepare for UIL concert & sight-reading competition, All-Region auditions, and Solo & Ensemble contests.

    Students also participate in local adjudicated music festivals in the months of December and April/May and our end-of-year Orchestra Banquet celebrating our seniors and the achievement of our students in the Hillwood and Central orchestra programs.

  • Concert Orchestra Ensemble

    Our Concert Orchestra Ensemble (COE) consists of 7th & 8th grade students and perform with our Parkwood-Hill Concert Orchestra Ensemble.

    The Concert Orchestra Ensemble is an introduction to the orchestra program. Students learn basic musical terms and concepts; practice proper instrument and performance technique and develop musicianship skills by practicing appropriate exercises and performance at-level musical pieces.

    Students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of our private lessons program and participate in local adjudicated music festivals in the Spring months and our end-of-year Orchestra Banquet celebrating our seniors ad the achievement of students in the Hillwood Middle School and Central High School orchestra programs.
